Importing Product Images in Odoo 18
(Odoo Standard Feature)
Odoo 18 allows users to import records along with images through the Import Wizard. This document provides step-by-step instructions to successfully import images for records (e.g., products).
Preparing the Import File
Build the Import Template:
Create a file (e.g., Excel or CSV) with the necessary fields for the records you want to import.
Add a column for the image field. For example, if you’re importing products, include columns such as Name, Product Type, Track Inventory, Product Category, Sales Price, and Image.
Add Image File Names:
Ensure that the file names of the images are unique.
Include the file type (extension) in the image name. For example:
earphone.jpeg
keyboard.jpeg
speaker.jpeg
imac.jpeg
Save the File:
Save the template file after ensuring all necessary information is included.
Importing Records and Images
Access the Import Wizard:
Navigate to the module where you want to import records.
Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and select Import Records.
Upload the Data File:
Click Upload Data File and select the prepared import file.
Map the columns in the file to the corresponding fields in the database.
Upload Image Files:
Click the Upload your files button.
Select all the image files referenced in the import file. Ensure you select all the files in one go. If you upload only a portion of the images and try to upload the rest later, Odoo will overwrite the previous upload with the latest one.
Verify that the number of selected files matches the number of image references in the import file.
Run the Import:
After mapping and uploading, click the Test button to check for potential errors.
If no errors are found, click Import to finalize the process.
Important Notes
File Naming:
Ensure the file names in the import file match exactly with the names of the uploaded image files, including extensions.
Image Overwriting:
If multiple upload attempts are made, only the images from the last upload will be retained. Ensure all images are selected during the initial upload.
Troubleshooting
Missing Images:
Verify that all image files are uploaded.
Ensure file names and extensions match those in the import file.
Errors During Import:
Use the Test button to identify any mismatched fields or invalid data.
By following these steps, you can successfully import records with images in Odoo 18.
